Novocalf ®, Novonappa Barénia ®

NOVONAPPA and NOVOCALF are made out of a raw material, french calf, which comes from an area where calfs have been suckled. This kind of breeding gives a skin with naturally resistant fibres.

In spite of a severe sorting out, only 30% of the skins from a shipment are good enough to be selected for the production of
    NOVONAPPA / BARENIA and NOVOCALF.

    The production process of
NOVONAPPA / BARENIA and NOVOCALF is very particular. It starts with a double tanning – chrome and vegetable – followed by a fatliquoring in hot air drums. This fatliquor, made up of 9 different fat contents (mineral, vegetable, animal) has been especially studied to give NOVONAPPA / BARENIA and NOVOCALF its quality of hand and roundness.

Even after wet weather conditions, fibres of the skin remain lubricated, and the leather remains soft and living.

Production time is rather long (5 to 6 weeks). This time is necessary to allow the leather to reach its maturity after each step of its process.

NOVONAPPA / BARENIA and NOVOCALF can be produced in substance 2.0/2.2 mm and 1.4/1.6 mm.

NOVOCALF is a full grain leather, semi aniline finished and satinated.

NOVONAPPA / BARENIA is a full grain leather, without any finishing.
It’s therefore a very natural leather, which gets patinated with the time, on which all natural features of the skin are present.
